Our message on 10/30/2010:

Here is what is happening this week and in the near future at Project Just Because:

We need student volunteers for Thursday 11/11: In preparation for the holiday season, PJB would like to do some re-arranging in our warehouse.  This will involve moving around some bins within the warehouse and some fairly heavy lifting.  We would like to make this move happen on Thursday, 11/11, which is a no school day in Hopkinton.  If you can help for any part of the day (we are open 9:00-4:00), please respond to this email.

We need a volunteer to make posters:  2 posters need to be made for our upcoming holiday program.  If you enjoy making posters, please respond and I will provide more details to you.  The posters need to be completed by Friday, November 12th.

We need 2 volunteers to coordinate in-town giving trees: One tree will be located in the town hall lobby, the other tree will be located at the Hopkinton Public Library.  Your responsibilities will be to work with the on-site contact at the location to set up the tree and maintain it through Wednesday, December 22nd.  "Maintenance" involves making sure the tree has a variety of hearts on it for people to sponsor and replacing hearts as needed, then taking down the tree at the conclusion of the program.  If you are interested in helping with this project, please respond to this email for further details.

We need volunteers that can commit to regular/standing volunteer time over the next 8 weeks.  If you cannot commit to the full 8 weeks, we will accept any reasonable timeframe.  Our goal is to get some trained volunteers that can jump in and help out without having to go through the training process during what will be a super busy time.  If you are able to commit to one day a week for a few hours that day for the next 4-8 weeks, please respond to this email.

We need paper grocery bags for packing items for pick up.   Bags do not need to be new, but they cannot have food stains or be torn.  If you have paper grocery bags to donate, please drop them by our warehouse (86 South Street, Hopkinton) anytime M-The 9:00-4:00.

Warm clothing donations needed: Donations of winter weight pajamas, hats, mittens and socks for all ages infant through teen are needed.  Items must be new due to health regulations.  Donations can be brought to our warehouse (86 South Street, Hopkinton) anytime Monday through Thursday, 9:00-4:00.

3 Wish Program details: While most people don't start thinking about the Christmas holiday this early in the season, it is essential for PJB to get started immediately if we are to meet the rising demand for assistance we have been already receiving.  For those of you who are new to PJB, the 3 Wish program is centered around making 3 "wishes" (provided by parents) come true for each child sponsored.  Items are typically gift certificates to any store carrying clothing or purchasing small, inexpensive toys (no electronics, etc).

Another way to support the 3 Wishes program is to stop by our warehouse (86 South Street, Hopkinton) and personally select the individual you want to sponsor.  Then, you shop for the items and bring them (unwrapped) back to the warehouse.  Finally, if you want to help but cannot meet the 3 Wishes, simply shop for any item that you think a child would like, drop it off to our warehouse, and we will match it up to a child who is still waiting to be sponsored.
